Midistroke record loop3/10/2023 Another option if you're on a Mac might be to use an app called 'midiStroke' to convert incoming MIDI to one or more keystrokes, which then let you map foot buttons to arrow keys and the ENTER key, giving you more control over samples and loops as if using the keyboard.Tuesday, 20 March 2007 14:44 OpenSoundControl oscpack - a simple C++ OSC packet manipulation library | Ross Bencina peer-to-peer internet OSC multicast without the pain | Ross Bencina Tender Surrender: how far web or can be fused with the musical instrument? These will allow you to create new loops, but I can't figure out a good way to actually stop the loop without mapping another button to ALL tracks' stop buttons, which is not ideal. If you enter MIDI map mode, you'll see two icons on the top, just to the right of the the main start/stop buttons - 'Session Record' (a black hollow circle) and next to it a 'New' which creates a new scene to record a new loop. How you'll map that foot controller to Ableton is a bit trickier. There's even a way to use a regular analog foot switch plugged into the Novation LaunchKey's expression pedal to trigger a single signal if you only needed a single foot-controller button. I recently got an iRig BlueBoard (4 button bluetooth foot controller) which I don't love, and I'd probably get the Logidy UMI3 or Korg Ec-5 if I had it to do over. First off, there are two separate issues - 1) finding a MIDI foot controller and 2) how to actually use it in Ableton.įor the first part - there are actually quite a few MIDI foot controllers available. I've been doing quite a bit of research on this lately and there's no single best answer but I know a few things. Tl dr: I want a foot pedal that automatically starts/stops the selected loop-slot, without Push 2 and always re-mapping the pedal to the selected slot. I was wondering if anyone here has a solution, I'd appreciate the help so much. I found multiple solutions, but all of these utilised the Ableton Push 2 for which we currently don't have a budget. So I was looking for an alternative, where he can control the recordings with a foot pedal (without having to map it everytime for every new lane ofc). While the novation launchkey is superb with its pre-mapped option to control the session view, it can get quite busy and stressy to play chords with two hands and - just in time - touch the right pad to signal the loop end. Therefore he has his normal e-piano, the novation launchkey and a small bass synth. I am setting up the drums and he is busy with finding melodies, pads, etc. A friend and me are currently trying to establish a small setup for live performing.
